Talking redhat 8.0 on a laptop - docked vs undocked

I have RH 8 on a sony vaio laptop. it works great, however when I plug it into the port replicator which has a cd burner, a dvd burner, the big monitor, usb mouse & keyboard, etc it asks me to 'configure' the additional hardware at boot time. then the next time I boot undocked it asks me to 'unconfigure' the not-found hardware. this works ok, I would rather configure for both and not have to configure/unconfigure at boot time.

Can I do this?
