Radeon 9800 pro and suse 10 high cpu usage

finally got my 9800 pro working in suse 10.0 3d acceleration is loading and glx gears gives me about 3000 to 6000, but I noticed running top that xorg is using 30 to 50 % of the cpu, even when idle, is that normal? also when trying to open sax2 it crashes, and the monitor resolution defaults to somethink like, 1800x1600. this works ok, but im wondering if this is why im getting so much cpu usage. anyone had a smiliar problem

Sounds like the system may be offloading too much of the graphics processing on the cpu. Which drivers are you running?
