Radeon 9600 install, gentoo, how?
Having recieved Gentoo on a cover disk (the woe of no internet at home...) and much enjoyed the hours of compilation (infact, gimp is in the works as I type), i can't get my lovely ati 9600 Pro to work
have done:
# emerge ati-drivers
and run the fgl config (exact name forgotten, but it wrote a nice XF86Config-4 file for me)
which is pretty much as far as the instructions I had went, and was nice and easy. Doesn't help make it work though.
when run startx, screen blanks, if I then switch back to the console, I find that X has stopped with an error along the lines of
DRIScreenInit failed.
can run X fine from standard vesa, and know that I used all the right settings in the X config prog.
Suggestions?
