Problems with USB-device

Hi!

I've got an mp3-player (MPMAN, unsure of the model) - it can be plugged in without any additional drivers (except for the usb drivers of course). It works good enough except one thing: Sometimes when I plug it in it turns on, then after a couple of seconds turns off again while still plugged in. What I do then is to unplug it and plug it in again, but then it refuses to function: The MP3 player seems fine, but I cannot mount the usb device and if I perform "more /proc/bus/usb/devices" the "more" program just freezes an cannot be killed at all.

Does anyone knows how to solve this?

Thanks

What is the output of "dmesg | tail" once you plug the device and when it turns off?
