file transfer to USB device problems

I have a small problem with USB devices (mp3player and USB keyring) in that when I
attempt to copy files across to them I get a file transfer progress box appear that shows the files transfered far faster than is possible. The files "appear" to be on the device but are all 0kb in size. The USB system works well enough to mound and unmount the devices automatically and apparently, correctly.

Does anyone have an idea what is happening here?

Many thanks.

(Debian Sarge / 2.6.8-2-k7)

Maybe, it's the time a synchro.
When transferring the files to the USB, it show the transfer is complete but the synchronization between the computer and the USB device is not completed. When you umount the device, he is automatically synchronized.

I'm not sure is the good answer to your question but this maybe a reason.
