Problem with hp laserjet 1018

Hello.
I've got a problem with the hp laserjet 1018 on ubuntu 9.04 jaunty jackalope.
I've maneged to install it and make it print correctly by uninstalling the hplip from the repositories and installing the newest version from the hplip website, but, after I
reboot the system, an error occurs when I reboot the computer.
Instead to switching to the login screen, the screen remains black and perpetually gives this error:
usb 1-7: device descriptor read/64 error-110
Then, I turn off the computer power, reboot again and this time I can login correctly.
However, now, the computer acts like the printer wasn't plugged in, and no matter where i plug it in, ubuntu refuses to detect it.

I've read that running dmesg -s 1000000 gives the necessary info to solve this, but i don't know what to do with the report, so if anyone who understands this thing can help me, I'd be very thankful....

the report:
