Plextor 712SA

Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to get this drive to work in FC3? I am running a Gigabyte 7NNXP Motherboard. Is there maybe a special driver I need for SATA?

Thanks

If I remeber correctly ATAPI devices will not work on the Silicone Image controller. What is needed for that drive to work is a SATA controller integrated into the chipset (like the newer NForce chipsets or Intel chipsets). Most of the on-board raid controllers are set up only for HDD's. I have a SATA Plextor drive, and it works fine on an Intel 865 chipset.

Is your SATA controller integrated into the chipset, (I do not think that the NForce2 chipset has built in SATA) or is it a Silicone Image RAID controller? If it is actually built in to the chipset, then you might just need a patch. If it is a seperate on board RAID controller, then you will need to get a new MB with SATA built into the chipset, or a SATA controller card that supports ATAPI, I have seen one, somewhere, but I can not remember where.

it is a Silicone Image, so I guess I'll have to do without. This MB is too good and too new and expensive to replace, and I'm not putting anymore cards in, I'll just do my DVD burning in Windows. I really do appreciate your input, and your help though, don't think I'm not grateful, because I am

Thanks
