Please advise on a NIC for RH 9

I have spent the last 2 days trying to configure a RealTec Nic for RH 9 and had no joy. As a newbie i am gonna put this one down to experience as i have read elsewhere on these forums that RT Nic's can be a pain.

Therefore can anyone running Red Hat 9 tell me what NIC they are using if it was autodetected fine. Basically i want to be able to use it to hook up to by NTL broadband connection as the RH box will be acting as a gateway.

Cheers in advance,

nairnie

Usually Realtek NICs are easy to setup with linux. At least I haven't had any problems. But then I don't run RH 9. Need some additional hardware info. What is the model number of the NIC. What is the output of the command:
lspci

Is the NIC built into the motherboard? If so what is the make and model? What is the chipset of the motherboard? Also look at the hardware compatibility list at Redhat's website for the NIC.
