Most of the programming concepts in Linux are similar to programming for any other platform. Any good programming resource would serve you well.

Is there a particular language you are interested in?

Maybe kylix?

I'd say it gets the closest to what a VB person
might have been used to... of course you'd have
to learn a real programming language, Pascal :}

Cheers,
Tink

Thanks-
Tinkster-would it be worth the trouble for a total newbie like me to go to slackware? If not what would you say is the best distro?

That's a philosophical question and
a matter of taste ;) ... if you have a
running redhat stick with it for now.

Slack is good, it's slim, it's lightweight.

RH is more popular. Mandrake is the
"friendliest" when it comes to new
users.

If you're inclined to learn lots about
Linux in short time go Slack, Debian,
Gentoo, LFS ... :}

Cheers,
Tink
