Question PC Chip M811lu v3.0 Motherboard not liking linux totally

<issue fixed and edited out as a result>
It seems had to pull the nic out again and put back inside don't ask me why dunno!

final questions remain:

Hello,

Not sure where to start but put together a motherboard that was not in use.

When first booting it said "cmos crc checksum error" or something like that. "loading safe defaults". Ok, reprogram the error is now gone.

P.S: what was that error anyway and always appears when short the pins? That is clearing the cmos will bring it back everytime. It disappears until next reprogram.

P.P.S:

At first it complained also of unknown processor 12000 mhz. So thought that might be the issue. So flashed the motherboard from dos. Now it says: AMD duron with correct speed. But it does not fix the problem.
