Hi.
I have Mandrake 9.2 () and while booting it says there is not enough space on partitions. I then logged in as root and deleted like five 700mbs movies but the problem still appears.
Yeah, now I noticed that /home is the different partition than /. Still, after making some cleanings with libs and other files I saved circa 250mbs. After few restarts it's like 190mb now.
Where did all these mbs go to? Should I delete a content of /tmp? How to save some additional mbs? Maybe deleting logs? Where are they stored?
Also, my net connection (normally opened by pppd /dev/ttyS0) now ceased to work...
Hmm, thought that might be the problem.
Your root partition may well be filling up with logs of one sort or another (or it may just be too small!).
Don't blindly delete the contents of /tmp.
Check the size of the logs in /var/log/ Some of these will be ancient, and can be deleted, especially if you are not experiencing any problems.
Are you running a webserver like apache?
Uh, it turned out I had like 15 mbs in there. How to save more space? This partition has like 6GB and all I keep on it are libs and kernel.
Also, any ideas why pppd /dev/ttyS0 stopped working? I haven't deleted any /etc files when cleaning up. I would love to provide you more details, but have no idea what would you like to now.
