Unhappy Noob starting with Slackware

Hi all

I have just installed slackware linux 9.0

The first thing id like to get is to be able to connect to internet from home, cause i must come to a cybercafe to be able to search for help.

I read the tutorials,and i do what tutorials say,at least i try,but...

I got realtek 8139 card to connect to a hub,and then go the router, and then to internet with speedstream 5660 router.

i went to /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 and rc.inet2 and edited that writting there my own ips and so,but then i reboot and try to telnet somewhere, and i cant
I also used netconfig, but no way

Does anyone knows where to find a tutorial that for?

Thankyou for ur help

you had it working... and then when you rebooted it wasn't working...

check your scripts and the /var/log/messages to make sure that the commands are being executed. Also try ifconfig to see what eth ports are configured after rebooting...
