No Video on Wakeup from Suspend Apple MacBook Pro with Linux Cinnamon

Hi, newbie here to Linux. I loaded Linux Cinnamon 19 on my old 2011 MacBook Pro 17’ because Apple was no longer supporting it for Mojave and **** Apple anyway. I got it loaded and running okay after looking online and seeing I needed to put “nomodset” in Grub to get the hybrid Intel on board GPU plus Radeon video card to work. The problem now is if I put it in suspend either by command or by shutting the lid, when I try to wake it up, I get no video. I am sure it is running and I’ve tried to type my password in the blank black screen and or use ctrl alt backspace. No luck. I have to hard reboot each time.
In my simple mind, is there a wake up file I need to modify with “nomodet” to get the GPU working on wake up after suspend? Looking online this time I wasn’t able to find a solution. A couple of others seemed to have the same problem but no solution.
Thanks, and if this is in the too hard to do or not worth it basket, let me know. (or if i am missing something simple)

Hi,

Just a shot in the dark!

I do not use MAC or Linux Cinnamon but when you initially setup the install do you have a swap space large enough to support the hibernation? How much RAM do you have?
Hope this helps.
Have fun & enjoy Linux!

I have 16 GB RAM. When I installed Cinnamon it automatically created a swap of 1 GB on my SSD. I heard about the swap solution but I think my machine is waking up, just no video.
Thanks, I am enjoying Linux.
