No Sound on KDE :(

Hi everybody,

I have Slackware 10.1 (Kernel 2.6.10) with KDE 3.4.2 installed, and I have a little problem with my sound system on KDE. My sound card is recognized, and I can play music using Xine, Totem and play sounds from the web using Mozilla. My problem is with KDE system sounds or sound from KDE apps such as Noatun - I do not hear anything! However, when I look at the aRts control tool I see the volume meter changing, and of course the "sound system" is enabled in the KDE control center... What can it be? How can I get the sound system to work?

btw, I had the same problem with kernel 2.4.29 / KDE 3.3.2.

Edit: hmmm.... I read something about configuring the aRts to use alsa... Can it be that my KDE is actually using some other sound device?

Ok NVM, got it working... the problem was that ALSA sent the sound to the dial-up modem instead of to the soundcard... Isn't it funny? I picked up the phone and heared the KDE startup sound
