No Sound on an Acer Aspire 8930g Laptop


I have an acer 8930g laptop, and am multi-booting, in windows it say the sound card is a realtek alc889, in pclinuxos 2009 it see's it as a intel hda ‎82801I (ICH9 Family) HD Audio Controller.No sounds at all.

googling acer 8930g linux driver gets me this page:

Looks like this person had some trouble with sound, but might've gotten it to partially work.
Other than updating alsa to a beta when you can, I recommend trying this link, but be aware that the first time usually ends badly when trying to fix something. At least in my experience. Good luck.
