No sound in FC3 (soundcard detection doesnt work)

After i installed FC3 there was no sound, so i tried running soundcard detection (system-config-soundcard)
and it sed:

[root@eniac2003 ~]# system-config-soundcard
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/share/system-config-soundcard/system-config-soundcard.py", line 46, in ?
app = soundcard.childWindow()
File "/usr/share/system-config-soundcard/soundcard.py", line 87, in __init__
self.device, self.module, self.maker, self.model = self.soundcardBackend.getData(card)
File "/usr/share/system-config-soundcard/soundcardBackend.py", line 106, in getData
maker, model = string.split(description, " ", 1)
ValueError: unpack list of wrong size
[root@eniac2003 ~]#
Ive selected Preferences->Sound::"Enable sound server startup" but it still doesnt work.
What shall i do?
I have a C-Media AC97 soundcard

I had the same problem in FC3 after having no problems in FC2. If you are running KDE, look under the sound & video shortcut and select Kmix. In there you will see sound in and sound out. Most of these are turned off and are low in volume. Whenever I try to use the control center sound config it crashes that program, however I was able to get the sound working with Kmix. Hope this helps.
