NIC problems and question

Hi there! I am really hoping someone or many people may be able to help me.

I am trying to setup a two zone (dmz and loc) shorewall router on a Redhat 9 system with 2.4.20-31 (i think) kernel. Shorewall starts up fine but the dmz won't connect to the internet despite having the policy "dmz net ACCEPT". I really think it is a hardware problem. I am using a PCI Planex GN-1200TC NIC and when I tried to copy and use the make file from the driver CD, I got an error. So, when I setup the card (eth2) I just chose a RealTek 8912 card driver (did it because eth1 also is setup the same way). Any ideas how I can get the NIC to work?

My second thing is not so much a problem, but a newbie question. I currently have ppp0, eth1, and eth2. I wish to have these cards to become active upon boot-up. However, in order to even get ppp0 to become active, I have to delete eth1 and eth2 (I am using the Network GUI by the way), restart the machine, activate ppp0 and then add eth1 and eth2 again. Very tedious! Is there a way to get everything to become active? I have looked but haven't found anything that helps...

Sincerely,

Brian
