Newbie help needed: DVD Reading Problems

Hello,

I'm quite new to the whole Linux business, but, after years of using Windows, I managed to get online with Linux in just a few days. Excellent.

I have a DVD Reading problem but only with ONE disc:

It's a DVD-R (EMTEC) which I've burned in several sessions, in Windows. NERO was mentioning a file system incompatibility every time I added new sessions.

I've left the DVD open for additional sessions

But Linux (which I only started using couple of days - and nights - ago LOCKS UP ( or so it seems ) when I try to mount the DVD ( or open it ).

Furthermore, the burning software that came with my distribution recognizez the DVD but doesn't recognize the last session.

Is it a multisession problem, or a file system problem? And can anyone tell me how to solve it?

Thanks!

could be a filesystem issue, but i'm not sure, I never burn in sessions I'm always closing the discs I burn.

try out Nero for linux, you should be able to download the RPM and/or source freely, and get the serial for it by just simply googling Nero Linux serial.

So far it's a quite stable and featureful piece of burning software for linux despite its lack of good looks lol. It's quite different in regard to feature placement, from the windows Nero versions. See if that will read it/close the disc for you/allow you to add more sessions/whatever.

Beyond that I'm not quite sure considering I've not run into this issue personally.

EDIT: it may not have burned as ISO9660 which is usually the default mounting filesystem type in linux for optical media, I'm not sure what multi-session disc fs defaults are.
