Ok, assuming that you modprobed the required sound modules, do you have udev enabled in the kernel? This allocates dynamic /dev devices.

Don't think I've seen that before, so I'm going to assume no... Looking for it now.

You couldn't imagine how glad I am to say this, but.... "Nevermind!"

Hehe, I recompiled the kernel with a single modification for the udev support. Once that was done all I had to do was restart, run alsaconf, and everything's running great! =D

Thanks a bunch for your help samstar, couldn't have done it without you. I hope to pass on the knowledge you've granted me in the future =)
