New to linux facing big trouble in installing drivers

Hello everybody,

I'm in a big trouble..

I use redhat distribution (Fedora core 1) kernel 2.4.22. I'm in real trouble, trying to install ULI M1573 driver.
The following comes in its installation instructions:

Copy ali5455.c (which comes with driver files) to /usr/src/linux 2.4/drivers/sound, and modify the
following files in this directory. (Make a backup of them.)

But in fact, i find no path like: /usr/src/linux2.4/drivers/sound !! Just i found this path: /usr/src and there's no other folders or files inside src.

also, i have no permission to create folders or copy any files inside that mentioned path i find.

I dont know exactly what the problem is !! Could anyone help me in this & i'll be grateful for him..

Hope to hearing from you soon.

Truly

Hi, you need to install the kernel-source for your installed kernel.

Type uname -a to get the full name and version.

Then try to match the versions for the source and download and install it using the tools of your OS.

Regards, Glenn

ps, you may need other dev tools as well to build source packages and/or rebuild the kernel, so download any dependencies too.
