Need mobo and proc combination suggestions...

I am going to buy a motherboard and processor combo in the range of 300$+ and I was just wondering if I could get some suggestions from some of you hardware freaks out there. Most importantly I want quality parts that are reliable and have few known issues. Any comments and suggestions are welcome.

I've had a lot of luck with Epox boards on the low end. They integrate cheap solid and well supported componentry, usually Nvidia video kit, cmpci based audio, etc... So you can get a soup to nuts board for about $80 and just have to sweat the chip/ram/drives/case. Still though, be careful, make certain to check out the chipset and the add-ons for compatability before you buy.

I ended up going with a athlon xp 3000 and via chipset so I think i'll be ok. Thanks.
