MythTV: Black&white static line at top of some channels

I'm using MythTV on Ubuntu (Edgy Eft), with a Hauppauge PVR 150 NTSC (low profile PCI version). On certain tv channels (channels 2 and 42 for example) I get a black and white static line at the top of the video display. I've had the identical problem when running MythTV on Slackware.

I've tried plugging in a monitor to determine if it's a video output problem with my video card. I've also tried viewing the channel in mplayer, to determine if it's related to a problem with MythTV. The line persisted in both trials.

Has anyone experienced this problem, and if so do you have a solution or do I need to pick up a new tuner card?

thanks much

It is just VBI or closed caption information. If MythTV has a feature called overscan, try to use it. Though do not mix both overscan from MythTV and the video card overscan options for TV. You will lose a lot of visual sense when both overscan values are used.

I messed around with it a bit more and the line isn't just black and white, it's multicolor.
