multiple sounds with alsa 2.6

I have the asus a7n8x and I have the onboard nvaudio set up and working with alsa. The only thing is that I can only hear one sound at a time. I am not sure what I need to edit to make it work. Can someone point me in the right direction.

It sounds like your card doesn't have a hardware mixer, so you need a software sound server to mix incoming sounds. Right now only one program can access the card at once.

Try configuring aRTs - it's KDE's default sound server.

I poked around with artsd but I am not too sure of what I am really doing. Do you have any links or howtos for this? Or could you point me in some direction. Thanks.
