Movie Playing Skips on Battery use
While playing video files from the hard drive and on my laptop battery power, the audio and video skips every time the hard drive is accessed. This doesn't occur while the laptop is plugged in to AC power.
I'm running Ubuntu 5.10, and have both laptop-mode and laptop-mode-tools installed. This activity seems to happen even when nothing is running but the video player (vlc, totem, mplayer), and even when laptop-mode is turned off with 'sudo laptop-mode stop'. Laptop is an eMachine 6805 with 768mg of ram and an 80gig hard drive. I can't seem to find any "cache" setting for the players to buffer the video stream while the hard drive is accessed. Any ideas??
Thanks,
Mark.
