Mouse too fast : xset m won't slow it down EITHER

I just installed a new VERY sensitive logitec usb infrared wheel mouse.

nice.... BUT it is too sensitive.
I used the kde Preferences=> Peripherals=> Mouse GUI too. set acceloration at ONE which is still WAY too fast.
I then used the xset mouse trick with about two dozen different "tunes" that would NOT do a thing to slow the mouse movement down... soo...

I tried editing the mouse settings in xf86config... by changing adding mouse settings for resolution to 100, 200, 300, 400, et al till I reached 3800 dpi... I then file saved and rebooted after each adjustment all night long for each change.. and it was as if NO change made ANY difference whatsoever....

I wonder if there is a setting for mouse resolution somewhere that is over-riding the ones I was attempting to adjust?
And I also wonder if there a baud rate on the usb port that I need to change or something, OUTSIDE the boxes I described above that might work.

LOVE the mouse. It DOES work. I KNOW this can be adjusted, but have NO clue as to where.

Give this a shot:

Notice the "mouseconfig" program? It might help... (I dunno, give it a shot).

Thanks so much john for responding.
If I am not mistaken the .Xdefaults are for netscape only. It says so in the top
!#netscape header materials.

Having said that, folks don't often respond with helpful tips...
You have, and I appreciate it.

The mouse works just fine... just acts like it is accelerating all the time, and I know we will find a workaround for it. It is a high resolution mouse, and thee is another default somewhere that overrides the settings in xfconfig86... and SOMEBODY HERE KNOWS IT....

Happy New Year..

Well I meant the "mouseconfig" program, but after reading the man page, I'm embarrased that I even submitted it.

SuSE doesn't use "mouseconfig" and I thought it was a Redhat utility.

Mea culpa...

As for links to meeses that move too fast, I didn't come up with anything useful, sorry.

Don't be embarrassed...
I ran mousedonfig again, just to make sure I had done so.

I am not surprised that NO ONE actually knows... as I have spent about 14 hours now googling and search dbs up to six years old... and MOST of them are about meeses that move too slow.

I found ONE article on changing the MOUSE default resolution,
Another one on changing the baud rate of the theoretical "port" of the USB to a lower speed...
and several that recommended fractals for the xset utility.

NONE of the above make any changes to the way it handles... there is another file I read about last year on 7.3 release that indicated THEY (the nefarious crew of HIDERS) had xfconfig86, more or less a foundation for starting the x server... and that mouse specs and screen resolutions were being overwritten by yet another, more deeply hidden config file...

WHEN I get that, along with apparently non-existant cheater scripts for the extracting the new super globals out of php and http variables... I will be in nix heaven... or perhaps hell willhave frozen over.

YOU find anything... ping me.
and thanks again.

I expect that if we do find it, that the Holy Grail will be laying right next to it...

Anyways, still noodling, I've been trying to see if the mouse is controlled be Xlib (who know?)

How does it act in a different Window Manager?

Have you seen this?

Set this option in your XF86Config file where "N" equals counts per inch.

Option "Resolution" "N"
