mouse problems

OK, heres the deal, my old mouse which was a microsoft intelli wheel mouse, 5 button(including the wheel button) i could only use 2 of those buttons and scroll wheel, not the scroll button, i used the 2 side buttons in windows to go b ack on a webpage and forward, and also in games, mainly first person shooters, like in half life, UT that sorta thing, and i bought a keyboard and mouse combo, mouse didn;t really matter, but i put it ont here cause i cant stand microsoft, all there products i'v always had nothing but trouble from it, and this mouse does the same thing, it has 5 buttons, and sroll wheel, the 2 side buttons dont work either, i was thinking it was a microsoft thing, anyone know of any drivers or something program or something that will let use the 2 side buttons like i want, not a big deal, just wodnering if there was a way.
