Mouse problem on dell c640, os opensuse 10.3

Hi,to start of i just want to say i am brand new to linux. used it once about 7 years ago but then the motherboard fried and i never tried it again. After using windows for so long i realised it was time to switch.

Problem: My biggest problem right now is i can not get the mouse to work properrly the computer is a dell c640 (touchpad). what it seems to do is
ether get stuck on right top of screen. get stuck on top left screen. or sometimes it seems to stick to the left side. for example i will move it and within seconds it will drift to the left. it jerks when it does it. I have looked everywhere to try to figure out this problem but nothing seems to work. and no the touchpad is not bad because like i said. i just switched from windows. I have gone under the settings and have tried Every single pre set mouse option ( yes i would try it then restart) and most of them did the same thing some would just make it so i could not use the mouse at all.

Please any help would be much appreciated even if it is to tell me how to get to the answer. Thank you.

It is the pointer in the keyboard, it is a common problem with the Latitudes, I have a C600. Either disconnect it like I did or you could try putting an anti-static bag under the keyboard where the pointer is to block the interference, I have heard this works but never tried it.

You can probably disassemble the connector if yours is like mine.
