Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Mouse issues (Mandrake 9.2 for AMD64 with kernel-2.6.1)

Hi technically savvy people!

I am not sure how to resolve this issue.

I have a MSI K8T-Neo mobo (Athlon 64) running Mandrake 9.2 with a compiled 2.6.1 kernel (with -bk5 patch).

I use a KVM switch that when I return to the Linux machine, moving the mouse causes all kinds of havoc... windows pop up... menus pop up, icons move around ...
and having gpm running, in a non-X environment, the screen will do wild things as well (i.e. CRs and highlighting and funky characters)

This did not happen before I installed the 2.6.1 kernel...
all works well if I do not switch the KVM to another computer and back to this one

Any clues?
