What is the output of lsusb with the camera plugged in.

Also run this in xterm while you plug/unplug the camera, and post the results:
tail -f /var/log/messages

Hello list

Just to let the Coolpix 2000 users above know, I have just now successfully used my Coolpix 2000 on Suse 9.1, ie kernel 2.6.?

I am using the camera in PTP mode and accessing it via Digikam 0.7 (on KDE 3.3.2 if that is relevant - I really don't know what is), which I think is using Suse's rpm of libgphoto2 2.1.4-79. It does not pick up the camera every time - I have to keep trying but it works after , say, 3 goes.

So I am a lot more cheerful about kernel 2.6 than I was. Hope this makes others so as well :-)

Now just got to get my MP3/memory stick (Creative Muvo 64MB) working...

The 2.6.1 kernels were ridiculously buggy (don't know why don't care) suffice to say upgrading 2.6.2 should solve you're problem

Hi

I was (and still am) on a version way more recent than 2.6.2.

The MP3 problem I did eventually solve, by updating its firmware from the vendor site. I have heard of this working for other people on other MP3 players.

There is something "wrong" with 2.6 compared with 2.4, because all of this worked fine on 2.4.

Anyway, I am happy now!
