Modems in Fedora 2

Hello,

I am running Fedora Core 2.6, and trying to install my dial-up modem. I've had enough trouble that I'm about to return the modem and try getting another.

Are there any modems whose drivers are already included (Native?) in Fedora Core 2.6? This would make life a whole lot easier.

Linux is particular about modems. Most of the cheap ones won't work. I have always used externel modems and they are recognized by all distros. If you return it and look for a new one, look for harware-controlled. Some actually say linux compatible on the box. I spent about $40 at Frys.

A typical external serial modem will be supported under FC2 with no "additional" drivers needed - on average with "dial-up", you'll have an easier time utilising an external serial modem as opposed to a win-modem
