I am having a problem using my modem with Kubuntu 6.06. I haven't been able to use it ever since the installation. It is 3Com modem. It is a Winmodem so I would appreciate it if anybody knows of a way to get 3Com PCMCIA winmodems running in Kubuntu to let me know and keep in mind, I don't have any way to connect it to the internet.
I can't find the model since 3Com doesn't print the model number on their PCMCIA modems. It does have an ethernet port along with the modem so let me know about drivers for 3Com winmodem ethernet port combos.

Do a little reading, get and use the scanModem tool, read the output .txt files which will tell you which modem chipset, where to get source to compile drivers and how to do it.
linmodems.org is outdated. It appears that it hasn't been updated since 2001 and that is indicated in a bit saying that there were no available drivers for 3Com modems as of 2001.
That bit on linmodems.org is saying that 3COM modems made in >2001 have no drivers for Linux.
If you can afford DSL/Cable, you might want to put a real (ethernet) network card in your comp and toss the modem; see the LQ HCL for help deciding which one you want.
