need to check settings for your modem
are you sure that it is using
trys device (it usually has index like ttys0)
make sure it's not set as "wait for dial tone"

you need to check at commands manual ( from your modem docs or at least generic manuals for 56k pci fm)
and use minicom to enter parameters to modem, or setup kppp to add init string with "disable wait for dialtone"

Have you been able to dial out with this modem before? Have you successfully found modules for it? It sounds like a winmodem to me, but hopefully it is a linmodem as well. Did you check out www.linmodems.org ?

Its NOT a winmodem, when I brought it, it said 'full hardware modem'
I have used it successfuly with Windows
I searched on Google and saw in some mailing list archives that people have been running it under Linux fine with no probs

Oh and Noerr whats the INIT string(just a normal1 i dun care if its 1 thats not specific for my modem)
