Question Microsoft USB Wireless Optical Mouse (Intellipoint) not working

I have a Microsoft USB Wireless Optical Mouse (Intellipoint) that comes with the Wireless Multimedia Keyboard. I tried the usb protocol --not working; same with auto and PS/2. The reciever is hooked up by usb. I have searched google and found nothing. I am using Slackware 10.0, a Piv on a D865PERL. My VGA is an NVIDIA GeForce FX5200.

I have the same problem...

I'm bumping this semi-old thread since I have the same exact problem.

I have the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop set (got it for $5 after rebate at CompUSA ) and have the same mouse problem as the guy above me.

The Microsoft Wireless Multimedia Keyboard (1.0A) works fine, but the Microsoft Wireless Optical Mouse (2.0) is having problems. I'm sure Slackware can detect it since the cursor (in and out of X.org) goes crazy when I move it, but that's the problem, it goes crazily around the screen.

The base wireless reciever is connected to the keyboard PS/2 port (green, for the keyboard) and a USB port (for the mouse), so at the moment I disconnected the USB part and left the PS/2 connected. Right now, I'm using a Logitech Optical Mouse as a temporary replacement.

Can anyone help me (or us) with this problem? Anything is greatly appreciated.

Try Gentoo... works fine there. You need kernel support for pointer devices (look @ input devices>ps/2) and full USB, of course.
