Mic recording -need help

I have a headset + mic and I'm looking to start recording. I have the tools (krec, gnome-sound-record). But only thing is, I hit record and nothing happens.

I figured I didn't do something correctly and it's true since I didn't set anything up.

I'm using alsa from the 2.6.1 kernel. My mic works fine since I use it in teamspeak and it doesn't seem to have any problems.

So How can I get my mic recorded?

Check the mic volume level in alsamixer.

The volume is maxed out.

But it's like the recording programs don't even know I have a mic.
