marvell yukon card not working on ubuntu


i got a sony vaio laptop and its working well on the new hardy haron version of ubuntu except for the marvell yukon card, it doesnt connect at all. i downloaded the sk98lin drivers and im trying 2 install them but when i put "./install.sh" into the terminal it gives me an unexpected "(" error. anyone have an answer 2 this or some other way 2 get my card working right?

That chipset should use the sky2 module. Load that one and configure nic settings. Not sure but would think it is already built in the existing kernel. List the modules with lsmod to see what is loaded. Then use ' modprobe sky2 ' to load if not.

Other than that nice specs on that notebook. Looks like you should get everything working except xD cards from the tifm modules.

its already on there but its still not working. iv looked around and read that the sky2 drivers are buggy and ppl say the sk98lin drivers work.

when i try 2 do ifdown eth0 or rmmod sky2 it keeps saying permission denied

Are you prefixing the commands with sudo so you're doing them as root? If not that would explain the permission denied errors.

I've never had very good luck with Marvell NICs -- they're about the only kind I've ever had trouble getting working in Linux. Sounds like things haven't changed much since I tried :-(.

in the first line of install.sh change /bin/sh to /bin/bash ( it worked for me) but even after loading sk98lin I have no eth0 and no network, so I'll probably have to buy other network card
