Mandrake and SATA HDD

I'm trying to install mandrake 10.2 onto my serial ata hard disk. At the beginning of the installation it is giving me the option to pick what hard disk driver to use. I've been choosing SATA VIA as it is a VIA chipset on my motherboard. It says it has to stop installation as there is no valid drive to partition. Do i need to download and use specific drivers, if so where could i find one and how would i go about installing it?

Why on earth Mandrake 10.2 ????

Even as recently as kernel 2.6.19.1 there's new SATA support changes going in, Mandrake 10.2 (AND 2006) are both very unlikely to have any idea how to communicate with your motherboard's SATA chip. I suggest that you try nothing older than MDV 2007.0
