Unhappy Mandrake 9.1 modem problems :(

Hello Everyone,

I just installed Mandrake9.1 dual booting with XP (its my first linux install). And I am have a lot of difficulty getting the dialup modem to work.

The PC is a Dell Dimension 4500, and the modem is a BCM v.92 56k modem on PCI slot 2.

I tried kppp to configure the modem, it detects the modem but just hangs the modem initialisatiuon stage of dialing up.

I am sure some of you guys have solved this before, as the hardware config is very common. So I would be really grateful if someone could help me out!!

Hi, buddy.
I am a new too.
and i had just get my modem working properly last night.
I think i would solve your problem but could u gave me further information about your modem, such as what kind chipset does it have and things like that.

And if u don't know how to. You could just go to
http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/modemident.html
and download one of the programs for either window or linux to help you determine what kind modem do u have.
I'ts pretty simple
Hope this helps
