Angry mandrake 8.1 modem configuration problems!help me please


i installed mandrake 8.1 and seem to have everything going cept when i dial up it says my modem is busy. i look in the control panel under hardware and it shows that i have a conexant softk56 speakerphone pci modem. is this considered a "winmodem" it dosent really say. can anyone tell me the solution to why my modem says its busy??:smash:
