Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Looking for digital camera recommendation

I'm looking to buy a cheap digital camera (I'll mainly use it for eBay pictures and that sort of thing, so I really don't need anything flash or huge numbers of Megapixels).

The main requirement is that I can easily upload pictures to my PC running Mandrake 10.

Does anyone have recommendations for cheap cameras that definitely work with Mandrake 10?

The digital camera connection isn't really a problem any more. Just get a linux-compatible USB flash card reader (useful things anyway).

Find the cam you want and see if it's on the gphoto2/gtkam compatibility list.
http://gphoto.org/proj/libgphoto2/support.php

Install hotplug and it will automount.

my camera (fuji finepix 1300) isn't on the list and it works perfectly with linux... i'd assume it would hence also work with those camera programs, but i don't know...

Thanks for the advice. I went for hardware that supported the USB Mass Storage standard (including a card reader - very handy) and everything works perfectly.
