Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

linux boot problem "disabling IRQ #10"

hi,
I have a hp presario with a seagate barracuda 7200.8 drive and a
maxtor ide drive. I have installed fedora core 4 onto the maxstor drive but during boot up. I get a "disabling IRQ #10"
message and then the computer hangs up.

If I disable the SATA drive using the BIOS setup. it will boot
up fine.

According to advertising on Amazon and other hardware reviews,
this SATA drive is supposedly linux compatible.

the driver that FC4 wants to use is "sata_sil" which, if im
not mistaken is a driver for a Silicon Image SATA...

Any info would be appreciated.
