Internet not working-server not found- - Qualcom Atheros
Hi,
hope this is the right place..
I have installed a basic Debian 9.3 stretch but cannott get anything with the internet.
I've installed the Debian Qualcom firmware package.
Entered the details from my previous computer in /etc/network/interfaces.
Yes, I have plugged in the cable... it's a standard wired connection.
Firefox comes up with server not found when I try www.google.com

all this is very unclear.
which interface isn't working? wired or wireless?
why did you copy a hardware-specific configuration ober from different hardware?
please post output:
Code:
uname -rv
ip link
lspci -k | grep -iA5 net
cat /etc/network/interfaces /etc/resolv.conf
ls -l /etc/resolv.conf
ping -c 3 google.com
ping -c 3 8.8.8.8

If you put your interfaces in /etc/network/interfaces, if-updown will mange them. If not, you can use network-manager, which is much easier to work with.
If you are trying to use wireless, try troubleshooting by hooking up a wired connection and testing. Some wireless manufacturers support Linux better than others.
