Hi! I have a problem with installation of my printer, a Epson EPL-5900L (with USB interface) using Slackware 9.0.
After a search with Google, I found a site with a driver for my printer. So, I downloaded the file called "epsoneplijs-0.3.0.tgz". I decompressed it and I done ./configure, make, make install.
So I went to /usr/share/apsfilter and I done ./SETUP, but the new driver isn't listed in any category.

I followed this instructions found in file "epsonepl.apsfilter":

# Installation instructions:
#
# (1) Copy this file to "${LOCALBASE}/share/apsfilter/driver" and renamed as "epsonepl".
#
# (2) Add the following line (without beginning and trailing spaces)
# to "${LOCALBASE}/share/apsfilter/driver/MAPPING" :
#
# epsonepl:EPL5700L:EPL5800L:EPL5900L:
#

I think "${LOCALBASE} is "/usr", is this wrong?

I would like to inform you that I had problem printing on an EPL 5800L, even as a local printer. (I found no driver for that printer). I tried other drivers for similar printers and I had success with the driver for 5700L, if my memory is correct. Anyway try a different -but similar- driver and you may solve your problem.....

PS with the new driver I have used the EPL5800L as a remote printer attached to a win98 machine on a local network with success
