Hi, I've been trying to get my Debian Sarge 2.4.23 kernel laptop to get into X without success for a few days. It has a SiS 650 video card and I heard the people over at SiS don't like linux very much. Anyways, I tried going to
http://www.winischhofer.net/linuxsisvga.shtml but the instructions over there didn't seem to work... I kept getting various errors. So! I started searching the web again and found out that people have been hacing success with
these drivers/modules. But the thing is I have no idea how to install that... I suspect it involves putting them in some directory and compiling the kernel again? Could anyone give me information about this please?
Also, which one do I use? I think the sis_driver.o-x refers to XFree86 version but how do I know what version I am using? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
