Angry ICH5 w/ Debian Sarge

I have four hard drives in my machine. Two are IDE, which work fine and hold the Debian install. My two other drives are SATA. When I install the system, the two SATA drives are fine and I format them. But when I boot into my system, I get a mount error on the two SATA drives saying /dev/sda1 is not there.

I tell it to continue anyway (with CTRL-D) and it finishes booting up, both the SATA drives not mounted. I can run mount -a one the machine has started up and the two SATA drives are both mounted fine.

How is it that the two drives cannot be mounted on boot, but can once the machine is fully started. Is there a module that is loaded between? Is the ICH5 Intel controller supported? Any help would be great. Thanks!
