i have different configuration to enable scrolling on my touchpad!!!

i am using an acer 4920 and the vertical and horizontal scrolling have not been enabled. i was given a certain configuration but it is not working for me.

the configuration i was given is as follows:
hey thanks for the answer but my xorg.conf reads like this:

Section "InputDevice"

Identifier "Touchpad"
Driver "synaptics"
Option "Device" "/dev/input/mice"
Option "Protocol" "Auto"
Option "TapButton1" "1"
Option "TapButton2" "2"
Option "TapButton3" "3"
Option "SHMConfig" "on"

EndSection

But my configuration is as follows-:

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Generic Keyboard"
Driver "kbd"
Option "XkbRules" "xorg"
Option "XkbModel" "pc104"
Option "XkbLayout" "us"
EndSection

Section "InputDevice"
Identifier "Configured Mouse"
Driver "mouse"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "Configured Video Device"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Configured Monitor"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"

so how do i go about it!!

Hi,

You can copy;

Code:
~#cp /usr/share/hal/fdi/policy/10osvendor/11-x11-synaptics.fdi /etc/hal/fdi/policy
Then edit the file, it is well commented. Once configured just exit your 'X' session then start a new 'X' session.

Watch out for the comments '<!--' and '-->' lot of people fall into the trap of not knowing the comment block. Place your merge below the last '-->'.
