I cannot log on to internet through Reliance USB Modem

Sir,
I have installed Suse 10.1 in my laptop Acer 5500z. Recently I bought a Reliance Netconnect USB modem. The reliance modem is having softwares which works only in windows.
Suse 10.1 detected my modem as AT modem and I configured with dial up phone number, username and password. I tried to connect to internet using Kinternet. But it failed due to 'no carrier'. Kinternet is trying to connect again and again but failed due to 'no carrier'

I expect your valuable advices and help.
Thanks in advance,

You should ask Reliance for a Linux variant.

Modem dial-up has two popular varities. V-90 and V-92. Check with your I.S.P. to see which one you can use. Some I.S.P. 's will offer both dial-up numbers to connect to the internet. Is your Modem V-90 or is it V-92? Also important, YOU need to interface with the system to use dial-up networking. See the man pages and Google for the steps to satisfy all the requirements. If you have K-internet, I'm guessing you are using SuSE, or a Distro child of SuSE. Try Wvdial or Kppp. They are dependable and can be configured by YOU. When it says "no carrier",...it means the I.S.P. is not logged into. To get logged on, YOU need to interface with the system with all the required data. I strongly recommend an external modem with controller chip onboard. Dependable, and saves the worry.
