Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Hp K60

Someone told me to tail /var/log/messages to see what happens when I unplug and then plug back in again my K60.
I got this:
Apr 1 19:29:49 localhost su(pam_unix)[3019]: session opened for user root by dad1(uid=500)
Apr 1 19:30:40 localhost kernel: usb.c: USB disconnect on device 00:07.2-2 address 2
Apr 1 19:30:40 localhost kernel: printer.c: usblp0: removed
Apr 1 19:30:41 localhost devlabel: devlabel service started/restarted
Apr 1 19:31:19 localhost kernel: hub.c: new USB device 00:07.2-2, assigned address 3
Apr 1 19:31:19 localhost kernel: printer.c: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 3 if 0 alt 0
proto 3 vid 0x03F0 pid 0x0511
Apr 1 19:31:22 localhost /etc/hotplug/usb.agent: Setup printer for USB product 3f0/511/100
Apr 1 19:31:22 localhost devlabel: devlabel service started/restarted.

No expert, but there is a device being recognized. Why can't it print anything, when hpoj and hpijs are installed and ready. Why can't ptal-setup connect to it?
Any tips anyone??
