OfficeJet K60
STILL trying to get my OJK60 to work!!
As root I run
ptal-setup
It finds no device on /dev/usb/lp0
Although it is on and connected
ptal-connect can't reach it either.
The printer is there, and is recognized on boot.
ptal.init is in init.d
The rc*.d K and S files all have the numbers correct ie S ptal before cups, K cups before ptal.
I have libusb.
localhost:631 can't set it up.
redhat-config-printer can't
Knoppix live cd can't handle it.
ptal-print </dev/null can't connect.
Anyone with any brilliant ideas???

Well...I'm not sure this will help or not, but have you tried installing a pckage called "HPLIP"? It seems to be the #1 package for HP printers, including OfficeJet K60, the same one I have. I think it comes with utilities to detect which port the K60 is connected to.
(To tell you the truth, though, I'm currently trying to get to the bottom of some problems using it with KDE under Debian.)
Just something to try.

A ghost from the past! This question was posted a long time ago.
I did get it working in the end, not sure how though. The first time I installed Fedora 3, it worked, everything, even the scanner, but after updates and so, the scanner never worked again. And nothing I could do would make it, scanimage -setup , god knows what. Thatīs Linux! Tahanks for your reply though!

Whoops-sorry. I just decided to try and help with some of the "similar threads" at the bottom of my own post but I guess I ignored the date. :\
D'oh!
