Currently i am using Belkin Wireless G USB Network Adapter for my desktop pc. I have found out that when i plug out the adapter directly without unmount it, my fedora will hang.
I haven't ever heard of needing to umount a usb wireless adapter though, are you sure there isn't a better way to handle it ? Can you still get to a terminal ? Does anything happen if you press alt-F3 ? Then you could use top to figure out what process is using up all your system resources, then kill it.
I think that budword is thinking of a usb thumbdrive. You might try shutting down the interface first. See "man ifdown". I don't know how your device is aliased and I don't use a USB wireless device. If you don't know it, look at the output of /sbin/ifconfig or /usr/sbin/iwconfig. You also may need to remove the kernel driver.
If you are using ndiswrapper, for example, "sbin /sbin/modprobe --remove ndiswrapper". You need to shut down the interface before removing the module or you will hang the kernel. This may be what is happening indirectly.
