How to monitor LaCie 4big Quadra RAID5 box for disk failure

I've got a LaCie 4big Quadra RAID box (RAID5 config) connected to one of my servers via esata. The connected host is a RHEL4 box.

I'm wondering if anybody knows a way to poll the raid for disk health and receive messages about disk failures. The server's located close enough that I can eyeball it periodically to see if a disk light has gone out, but that's sure no reliable solution.
